Corporate Compliance

What is corporate compliance?

Because High Hope Employment Services, Inc. is committed to promoting strong business ethics and accountability within the company, we are very focused on corporate compliance. Compliance basically has to do with following the law. The mission of our compliance team is to promote and monitor compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. This includes regulations governing federal and state healthcare programs, fraud and abuse matters, ethics, privacy and security requirements and corporate governance.

Having a strong compliance program helps our company maintain its commitment to being an honest and responsible provider by identifying and preventing illegal and unethical conduct; improving the quality and consistency of patient care; creating a structure for employees to report potential problems; and developing procedures for prompt and thorough investigation of misconduct.

Statement of Commitment to Corporate Compliance

High Hope Employment Services, Inc. is a not-for-profit community facility that provides selected services to individuals with disabilities and homelessness. HHES, Inc. is committed to providing effective and efficient services to our community. The HHES, Inc. Mission is to provide individuals and families who are affected by economic decline, disability, or homelessness, with the opportunity to work, live, and socialize in their community. The HHES, Inc. Vision is working together to meet the needs of our consumers.  In order to achieve its Mission and Vision, HHES, Inc. is committed to maintaining a work environment that promotes integrity and trust in order that its employees and agents may perform their tasks with the highest ethical standards. These ethical standards require strict adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.  In order to avoid any violations of laws and regulations, a formal Corporate Compliance Program has been implemented at HHES, Inc. This Corporate Compliance Program is a part of HHES, Inc.'s continuing effort to improve quality and performance. Corporate Compliance means that everyone associated with HHES, Inc. will try to understand all legal and other requirements that relate to their positions and comply with them. (Regulations published by the Center for Medical Services (“CMS”), and other federal or state agencies). Any deviations are to be reported to a supervisor, the Compliance Officer or the Executive Director so that they can be dealt with appropriately. Code of Ethics 

High Hope Employment Services, Inc. adheres to written codes of ethical conduct related to:

a. Its staff.
b. Its board of directors.
c. Its business/financial practices.
d. Its marketing activities.
e. Its treatment of the persons severed and other community members.
f. Other issues identified by the organization and/or stakeholders.

Board members and staff will be given a copy of HHES’ Code of Ethics during their orientation to the organization.

CODE OF ETHICS

Confidentiality due to the nature of our organization, many issues and problems brought up in this office must remain confidential at all times.  Failure to keep things in this office confidential will result in disciplinary action!

Attire this is a professional organization and each employee’s dress, grooming, and personal hygiene should be appropriate to the work situation.

Courtesy it is important for all employees to be customer and service oriented and to treat customers, co-workers, and the public in a courteous and respectful manner at all times.  Employees not showing courtesy and respect will face disciplinary action.

Misappropriation this organization is not-for-profit and as such, extreme care must be taken with our funds and property.  Organizational funds and property may not be used for personal use.  Reimbursements for expenses paid for by the employee must be properly documented!  Gifts of monetary value of significance cannot be accepted for work done as part of your employment with High Hope.

Behavior High Hope expects professional behavior at all times.  This includes tact in dealings with consumers, staff members, affiliates, case managers, guardians, caregivers, other employees, board members, and the public.  This could include criticism of the organization or staff at official functions outside the office.

CODE OF ETHICS-Treatment of persons served

  1. The following questions will serve as principles, which will guide my actions in dealing with those individuals served/employed by High Hope Employment Services, Inc.

    Do my actions…

    1. Promote self-esteem in those we serve/supervise?
    2. Demonstrate empathy and a willingness to use insights thus gain in such away as to improve the situations?
    3. Enlist the involvement of those we serve/supervise by increasing the “personal capital” of those individuals?
  2. Persons served must always be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of disability or other potential deficit areas.
  3. The input of persons served into the rehabilitation process is not only important, but is paramount.  That input should always be respected at all times.
  4. Persons served give up no legal rights when they join High Hope Employment Services, Inc.  Hence, an individual’s legal rights must be respected at all times.
  5. An atmosphere must be maintained in which those served may learn/develop.
  6. The organization must be ever mindful of the attitudinal, architectural, and communication barriers that may exist in the organization.  Where barriers exist, the organization must consider corrective action.

CODE OF ETHICS-Staff members

  1. I will do my best to see that High Hope Employment Services, Inc. meets the needs of persons served.
  2. I will respect the value and dignity of all individuals.
  3. I will do my best to create/maintain a climate of loyalty, trust, and mutual respect.
  4. I will support a work atmosphere where the work of each individual is respected as important.
  5. I will recognize excellent work done by other staff and persons served.
  6. I will strive to speak to everyone in a friendly, positive, enthusiastic, and courteous way.
  7. I will support a work atmosphere that is open and non-secretive while being mindful of the need for confidentiality.
  8. I will support the decisions of management.  I may state my position.  Ultimately staff must follow management’s decisions.
  9. I will be loyal to the organization.  I will refrain from doing anything that might bring discredit to the organization.
  10. I acknowledge that enthusiasm and a positive attitude always make for a better work place.
  11. I will uphold all applicable laws and regulations, going beyond the letter of the law to protect and/or enhance High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s ability to meet its mission.
  12. I will strive for personal and professional growth to improve my effectiveness.
  13. I will not solicit or accept any gifts or gratuities from individuals involved with HHES for my personal benefit.

  1. I will do my best to see that High Hope Employment Services, Inc. is operated in a manner that upholds the organization’s integrity and merits the trust and support of the public.
  2. I will strive to uphold all applicable laws and regulations, going beyond the letter of the law to protect and/or enhance High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s ability to accomplish its mission.
  3. I will treat others with respect, doing for and to others as I would have done for and to me in similar situations.
  4. I will not solicit or accept any gifts or gratuities from individual involved with HHES for my personal benefit.
  5. I will be a responsible steward of High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s resources.
  6. I will take no actions that could benefit me personally at the unwarranted expense of High Hope Employment Services, Inc., avoiding even the appearance of a conflict of interest.
  7. I will carefully consider the public perception of my personal and professional actions, and the effect my actions could have, positively or negatively, on High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s reputation in my community and elsewhere.
  8. I will strive for personal and professional growth to improve my effectiveness as a High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s Board member.

  1. Marketing activities are part of High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s accountability to the public.
  2. Marketing activities/efforts shall always respect the dignity and privacy rights of those served.
  3. Marketing activities will never knowingly mislead/misinform the public or misrepresent High Hope Employment Services, Inc.’s name.
  4. Marketing activities will uphold the integrity of High Hope Employment Services, Inc. so as to merit the continued support and trust of the public.

  1. All people are treated with dignity and respect.
  2. In order for the organization to grow and meet the needs of persons served it is very important to obtain input from stakeholders.
  3. High Hope Employment Services, Inc. must be aware of attitudinal, architectural, and communication barriers that may exist in the organization.  Where these barriers exist High Hope Employment Services, Inc. must consider corrective actions.
